Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs
Oriental Medicine is an ancient, comprehensive medical system that incorporates acupuncture, Chinese herbs, moxibustion, cupping, nutrition, and exercise. It is a 3,000 year-old practice, which emerged from the observation of nature and cycles of movement and balance within the body.
It has been scientifically determined that human beings are unique bio-energetic systems. Oriental Medicine has acknowledged this for 23 centuries. Pathways of Qi run throughout the body in channels that are linked to particular organ systems, providing an aspect of defense and maintaining life. When the flow of Qi is disturbed or diminished, disease is likely to occur.
Acupuncture is a healing technique in which very fine needles are inserted into specific ‘gates,’ or points, along the energy channels. Disease is treated or prevented by stimulating the flow of Qi. The client may feel a tingling, electrical sensation traveling through the meridian. During a treatment, endorphins are released and alpha waves are transmitted through the brain, often inducing a dream-like state.
Acupuncture works to control the flow of lymph and oxygen-rich blood, remove obstructions in muscles and nerves, relax the nervous system and regulate hormonal release.
While acupuncture addresses mostly the yang, or surface of the body, Chinese herbs focus on yin, or internal manifestations of disharmony. With over 6,000 herbs in the Chinese pharmacopoeia, herbal prescriptions are prepared after a careful diagnosis of each individual according to the specific nature of the disease.

Fertility and Traditional Chinese Medicine
The enhancement of fertility has been at the heart of Traditional Chinese Medicine for 3,000 years. The benefits of acupuncture for fertility can be found in Chinese medical literature dating back to 11 AD.
Regular acupuncture treatments correct the body’s neuro-endocrinological activity, regulating the hormones and bringing the body into a state of balance. Research shows that acupuncture supports implantation and growth of the embryo during the initial stages of fetal development.
For women who are undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), fertility is supported by improving the function of the ovaries to improve egg quality, regulating the hormones to produce a large number of follicles, and increasing blood flow to the uterus to build a thick uterine lining.
Chinese medicine also assists with relaxation and decreasing stress, lessening the side effects of IVF medication, strengthening the immune system, and decreasing the chance of miscarriage. At Satori, we take all aspects of your health and lifestyle into consideration to determine a treatment plan that works best for you.
